Diabetes Screening

An estimated 21 million Americans have diabetes and 41 million have prediabetes.  Many of them don’t know how to identify the symptoms of diabetes, which puts them at risk for serious health complications including heart attacks, blindness, kidney damage, amputations and stroke.

The good news is that diabetes can be avoided entirely or treated and controlled by learning early what causes diabetes, being able to identify diabetes symptoms, and being tested to determine whether you you have elevated blood sugar levels. Diabetes screening and early detection will give you the information you need to make lifestyle changes or take medication to manage the disease and improve your quality of life.

In this section you will find useful information on diabetes screening, prevention and treatment from The Hormone Foundation. You can also search for a diabetes specialist through our online physician referral directory.
