Based on effective efforts researched by the National Institutes of Health, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program participants learn about and adopt the healthy eating and physical activity habits that have been shown to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Through the program participants receive support and encouragement from both a trained Lifestyle Coach and fellow classmates as they develop a plan for improving and maintaining their overall well-being.
To date, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program has helped over 23,000 participants in over 41 states across the United States.
